We are looking for someone to begin as a chef. The candidate will join a small team of passionate chefs. They will learn the basic running’s of the kitchen, risk assessment, health and safety, food hygiene and COSHH. They will learn to handle deliveries, stock control and stock rotation and work towards being an integral member of our kitchen team.

What will the apprentice be doing?

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • The successful apprentice will complete the Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship standard, you will receive a grade Pass or grade Distinction
  • The apprenticeship will be delivered fully in the workplace, and you will have assessor meetings every 4-6 weeks and workplace reviews every 10-12 weeks to monitor your progress
  • 6 hours of your week will be spent on training, It will be your responsibility to log this training
  • In addition to the apprenticeship standard, you will complete Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English, if you don't have GCSEs grades C/4 or above or equivalent. The delivery will take place in the workplace and the final exams at one of East Sussex College's campuses

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • A full-time position can be offered to the apprentice following the successful completion of their apprenticeship
