What will the apprentice be doing?
The role requires application of project management skills; translating enquires from their initial feed and bid stage through to completion and order delivery, ensuring compliance with customer and project specifications including quality and documentation requirements. This supports the business need to provide correct technical and commercial tenders in a timely fashion followed up with effective order execution.
Role & responsibilities:
- Review customer specific requirements including project specifications to identify understand the key deliverables and offer a suitable sealing solution
- Responsible for compiling technical tenders, financial costing and compliance to global standards and EU regulations
- Have an in depth understanding of the extensive range of sealing products AESSEAL offers, including factored in items such as instrumentation, valves, pressure vessels, pumps and motors
- Take charge of aspects of technical project management following receipt of order in a cross functional role to deliver engineered seals and complex seal system packages from cradle to grave through the business from initial enquiry through to site commissioning
- Ad hoc technical support and department organisational tasks
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Product Design & Development Engineers work on all stages of product creation, product modification and product componentry.
They support activities ranging on early concept feasibility, Computer Aided Design and other modelling, activities and stages through to final preparation for launch and customers.
This includes working in concept studios, rapid prototyping, assembly, testing, validating and analysing performance. Typically they work closely with suppliers and managers in bring new concepts to life or contributing to redesigns of existing products.
You will study on a Degree Level 6 Product Design and Development engineer standard on a Foundation Degree in Mechanical Manufacture pathway. On completion of this, you will gain a qualification in Engineering at Degree Level 6 standard.
During the first year of the apprenticeship, your learning will take place at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre based at Catcliffe, Rotherham, for an initial block of study on a full-time basis. After this, you will attend the Training Centre for one day a week for knowledge study.
