What will the apprentice be doing?

Working under supervision, your main duties will include:

  • Assisting Chef in preparation and service of meals
  • Washing, peeling and preparing food ingredients
  • Operating equipment e.g. fryers, mixers, microwave, knives, cutters
  • Unloading fresh supplies and organising stock room
  • Checking use-by dates and rotating food stocks
  • Observing cooking times and correct temperatures
  • Dishwashing
  • Cleaning kitchen appliances
  • Any additional duties you may from time to time be required to undertake to meet the demands of the business

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 2 Production Chef Apprenticeship Standard:

  • You will spend four days a week in the workplace and one day at Stafford College

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Upon successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to apply for any appropriate vacancy available at that time.
