What will the apprentice be doing?

Infinis Energy is a sustainable energy generator. They produce low-carbon power from captured methane which comes from landfill sites and disused coal mines. Their Controls and Instrumentation (C&I) team are looking for a new apprentice to join them. As an Apprentice within the C&I team, you will be working with state-of-the-art technology and play a vital role in transitioning the world to more sustainable forms of energy. Working closely with other C&I engineers and technicians and where possible remotely, this is a great opportunity to learn how sensors, motors, switches and valves support their electrical and mechanical engineering teams keep their site-based engines running safely every day of the year. What you will be doing in this role? You will be working closely with experienced C&I engineers and technicians to learn the skills and knowledge necessary to design, install and maintain control and monitoring systems for renewable energy sources. You will assist with:

  • Fault finding, repairing, and maintaining C&I equipment. This includes critical safety systems, gas analysers and site control systems
  • You will also learn about control system design, programming, and testing
  • You will learn how to maintain electrical / electronic components and support servicing of fire and gas detection systems. This helps to track data and control systems remotely, and keep people and sites safe. As well as this you will work with the latest technology, building the skills and knowledge needed to design, install, maintain, and troubleshoot systems
  • After training, there is scope to train in different technologies, and hopefully become a technician. This is a field based role with daily travel to sites in Northampton, Milton Keynes, Bedford, Peterborough, and Cambridge sites. With a very generous salary of £18,400 this is an amazing opportunity

Do you love the outdoors? You will work on sites in all weather conditions Do you like driving? There will be daily travel between regional sites around Northampton, Bedford, Milton Keynes, Peterborough, and Cambridge so you will need a full UK driving license. You will attend Bedford College for this qualification.
