What will the apprentice be doing?

Job Purpose:

The key function of the role is to assist in delivering excellent 1st Line technical support to Aldenham Foundation staff

Key Tasks:

 

  • To work with the IT team on the daily monitoring of the IT help desk and provision of technical and IT support in the resolving of service desk tickets
  • Maintain a high degree of customer service when responding to support issues and ensure issues are resolved effectively and promptly
  • Escalation of more complex issues to relevant support team member
  • Assistance with hardware and software installations, planned upgrades and maintenance in line defined procedures
  • Provide other ad-hoc IT support and training to Aldenham Foundation staff as required

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

  • Good communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff and members of the school community
  • Team player with the ability to manage their time efficiently and prioritise technical issues to ensure a prompt closure
  • Flexible approach and ability to work well on their own initiative
  • A-C GCSE or equivalent Maths and English 
  • Keen interest in IT and keeping abreast of latest developments in technology
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Products, IT Hardware and software
  • Ability to learn quickly and apply that learning in the workplace
  • Willingness to work flexibly, encompassing both academic & work environments
  • A strong drive to understand the occupational values of your chosen pathway, make improvements and solve problems
  • Willingness to work hard with enthusiasm
  • Able to communicate and work effectively with a range of people

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • ICT Level 3 - Information Communications Technician Qualification
  • Training typically takes place 1 day a week on our flexible, remote learning course with fully qualified tutors, and the additional benefit of a work coach to help ensure successful completion of the apprenticeship
  • You will be supported by Aldenham Foundation in the 20% off the job hours, required as part of this apprenticeship

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • We are looking to offer full time employment upon successful completion of the apprenticeship. We believe in developing our talent internally and have a clear and personalised progression route for each of our employees which is reviewed annually
