What will the apprentice be doing?
Main Duties:
- To provide and maintain close supervision of all children in your care at all times including meals and care routines
- To provide a safe and stimulating environment within the established guidelines of the nursery
- To strictly adhere to the agreed nursery discipline procedures
- To work within the team to assist in planning the curriculum that encourages the development of each child through the delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage
- To help set up the rooms for the daily activities and to help tidy away at the end of the day
- To act as a key worker to a small group of children, liaising closely with parents/carers and ensuring each child’s needs are recognised and met
- To plan and implement effective displays of children's work
- To help promote a teamwork environment in conjunction with other staff and students
- To always maintain confidentiality at all times regarding information about children, their families or other staff, which is acquired as part of the job
- To ensure that your line manager is aware of any incidents affecting the welfare of the children in your care.
- To help maintain the building in a safe and clean condition ensuring all faults are reported through the appropriate channels
- To attend meetings with other staff or parents as required, even when outside normal working hours
- To ensure your minimum requirements, as stated above, are met and maintained at all times
- To attend further training, meetings and events both paid and unpaid as per code of conduct/contract
- To assist in maintaining children’s records
- To be committed to developing and maintaining a multicultural, anti-racist, non-sexist environment, respecting the children’s individual differences
- To maintain close liaison with parents of each child in your care, including consultations
- To adhere to the dress code of the nursery
- To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the manager, in accordance with the nurseries business plan/objectives
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Level 3 Early Years Educator will be studied through HIT training and is in house training so your study will be online, assessed in house and/or study hours at home.
Will include paediatric first aid qualification.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- Higher level qualification.
