What will the apprentice be doing?

This is an active role, with an on the job training process in a workshop/production environment.

A variety of tasks are undertaken involving mechanical and cable/wiring assemblies, electronics, video equipment, Ethernet networks and fibre optics.

  • Inspection of products for conformance against compliance sheets.
  • Following documented work instructions for wiring and assembly of CCTV cameras.
  • Pressure Testing and measuring of mechanical housings.
  • Undertaking a wide range of mechanical and cable assemblies.
  • Preparation of products and systems for client witnessed Factory Acceptance Tests.
  • Work in accordance with our QAQC system.
  • Working independently without supervision.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 3 Engineering Fitter apprenticeship standard, including Functional Skills if required.

This programme includes Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering and BTEC Diploma in advanced Manufacturing Engineering.

This programme is delivered via a day release delivery model which means that one day per week, your attendance is required at our Engineering campus, NG17. This attendance is required during term time only.

You will work with expert assessors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession.

You will experience a blended learning model.

You will gather learning evidence, journals and off-the-job records using your e-portfolio.

At the end of the planned learning period, it will be agreed that you are ready to enter 'Gateway' and for your End Point Assessment to be arranged.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Potential full time employment initially as a Technician/Engineer, upon successful completion of apprenticeship. Progression does not stop there for a person who is willing to learn, is a good team member and willing to expand with the company.
