Glaze is essentially liquid glass, which is sprayed onto the ware and then fired in the kiln to seal the clay and colour into the product, making the ware safe to use and giving it a glossy finish. A glazing apprentice will learn all the different skills and tasks within the glazing department.

What will the apprentice be doing?
As a glazing apprentice at Churchill you will be responsible for glazing a variety of ware and all of the skills and tasks within the glazing department. You will also:
- Develop your skills across the board
- Apply efficient ways of working to improve productivity
- Work as a team to meet individual and company targets
- Be responsible for the maintenance of your own work station

- Lean Manufacturing Operative Apprenticeship Standard Level 2
- EAL Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing
- Functional Skills Level 1, work towards Level 2
- Training from mentor and in house training from Axia every 6 weeks
