What will the apprentice be doing?
Main Responsibilities and Tasks:
In order to facilitate an installation, repair and maintenance of electrical equipment, an electrical apprentice performs many tasks:
- Identify, analyse, troubleshooting and assisting with repairs of equipment and electrical faults
- Support and work with other members of the maintenance team fault finding and applying corrective action
- To complete installations/repairs, the electrician apprentice will assist the electrician or perform less complex installation tasks independently. They will complete electrical wiring tasks, alignment adjustments, and calibration of equipment following manuals, schematics, diagrams, layouts and equipment specifications
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- The learner will be studying the Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard qualification
- Day release to West Suffolk College
- Functional skills will be studied if equivalent qualifications are not held
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- The opportunity to become a permanent employee throughout apprenticeship and on completion of the apprenticeship
