What will the apprentice be doing?
A new apprentice opportunity is available within our seed operations team as a warehouse operative apprentice.
The apprentice role will entail a variety of functions such as but not limited to:
- From picking and packing seed orders
- Using advanced seed cleaning & processing machinery
- Loading and unloading lorries with forklifts
- Booking delivery for collection
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Elements of the Apprenticeships will include:
- Level 2 Supply Chain/Warehouse Operative Standard - Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours
- Functional Skills Level 1 Maths & English and evidence of working towards Level 2 Maths and English
- With mentoring support, for moving goods, the applicant will be trained in how to use a variety of forklifts, counterbalance, swivel, and wire guided
- Also, training for scissor lifts and telehandlers.For the picking and packing, the applicant will be trained in how to use Microsoft NAV and handheld scanners
- For the seed processing work, the successful application will complete PA1 & PA11 qualifications
In summary, the apprentice would be assigned an assessor through the College, who would typically come out to visit by the workplace to assess workplace competence.
The knowledge side would be provided via an online portal VLE (Virtual Learning Environment), and assignments/ evidence of work/ portfolio would be checked via an online Smart Assessor.
If required, English & Maths Functional Skills will be embedded into the apprenticeship.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- The apprentice could be employed in a full-time role as a warehouse operative within the business
