    £21,131.00

    We pay all apprentices the National Living Wage regardless of their age, £10.42 per hour. Any overtime worked is paid at 1 ½ times. Apprentices are automatically enrolled onto our company bonus scheme which is profit related and paid annually.

    Autumn/Winter hrs 8.00 – 4.30 Monday – Thursday, 8.00am – 3.30pm on a Friday Spring/Summer hrs 7.00am - 3.30pm and Monday – Thursday, 7.00am - 2.30pm on a Friday

What will the apprentice be doing?

During the two years, the apprentice will gain experience in all areas of the nursery including:

Propagation including:

  • Seed sowing
  • Pricking out
  • Taking cuttings
  • Division
  • Potting (Machine)
  • Feeding 
  • Irrigation
  • Plant Growth & Development 
  • Pest & Disease Control
  • Quality Control
  • Despatch

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Crop Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard:

Level 2 Awards in:

  • Safe Use of Pesticides

On completion of the pesticides foundation unit above also choose one of the following units:

  • Boom sprayer, mounted, trailed or self-propelled equipment
  • Granular applicator equipment
  • Handheld applicator equipment
  • Level 3 award in Emergency First Aid at Work
  • Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths (GCSE grade 4 or C or above) will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end point assessment
