What will the apprentice be doing?
An average day/week will consist of doing multiple tasks, from decommissioning or demolition work, to the preparation and installation of all the components required for the project at the time.
Such as:
- Plumbing and electrics
- Structural steel installations
- Heating modifications/repairs
- Plaster boarding and plastering full rooms, to patch plastering after a local repair, Installation of wall and floor finishes
- Installation and repair of doors and windows
- Installation of new kitchens and bathrooms, also service and repair to existing kitchen and bathrooms, such as replacing taps, inlet valves, etc.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Training will take place at Telford College 1 day a week and will complete with a a Level 2 property maintenance operative standard.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
I would expect the right person to be at a very competent level and have a high degree of quality in their approach and application to multiple skills/trades in both property maintenance and day to day tasks within the building/ construction industry, at the end of the 2 years.
There is then a potential to further get qualified in a specific areas if required and to carry on employment with us.
