What will the apprentice be doing?

We are looking to take on a hardworking, enthusiastic and switched on individual who is looking to learn by doing. The successful candidate will assist in all areas of construction whilst focussing on the Carpentry and Joinery aspect of their course.

The role will include:

  • Handling materials
  • Setting up machinery and tools
  • Site maintenance
  • Measuring and cutting materials
  • Problem solving
  • understanding joints
  • Assembling furniture components.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • The apprentice will complete a Level 2 certificate in Furniture Manufacture apprenticeship standard at Leicester College.  
  • You will attend college one day per week and the training will take place at our Freemens Park Campus. 
  • Functional Skills in English and maths if required 

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Once you have successfully completed your apprenticeship there will a full-time role available with EE Smith Contracts and the opportunity to progress within the company for the right candidate.
