What will the apprentice be doing?
The Faculty’s well-equipped workshops and laboratories provide an ideal environment for high-quality, on-the-job training. You will receive basic initial training in the first 6 months before progressing to more specialist training, providing an opportunity to develop new skills and knowledge in a range of cutting-edge engineering processes, instrumentation and measurement including:
- CNC machining including CAD/CAM
- Rig design, build and modification
- Materials testing and characterisation
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
As well as practical learning and experience, you will attend a 4 year academic programme at a local FE college. You will study towards and successfully complete the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations, before continuing on to the Level 4 HNC in Electrical Engineering.
During your apprenticeship, you will be fully supported by and learn from highly experienced and qualified engineering technicians, who are knowledgeable and passionate about their discipline.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Upon completion of the apprenticeship, there may be an opportunity to gain further employment with the University.
