What will the apprentice be doing?

The successful candidate will work alongside our maintenance team and to learn skills on the job to become a skilled FMCG Engineer, as well as gain knowledge via the AMRC Training Centre. The postholder will shadow our multi skilled engineers and GMP procedures  with reference to technical as well as health and safety requirements.

Tasks/responsibilities:

  • To gain the ability to approach problems in a logical and structured manner aiming to generate effective solutions
  • To convey or share ideas and feelings effectively using verbal and written communication skills as well as demonstrate effective listening and questioning skills
  • Maintaining mechanical systems and equipment
  • Maintaining electrical systems and equipment
  • Maintaining pneumatic systems and equipment

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will study on a Level 3 Engineering Technician standard on a Mechatronics Maintenance Technician pathway. On completion of this, you will gain a qualification in Engineering at Advanced Level 3 standard.

After a period of foundation skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)

After a further period of skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Mechatronics Maintenance Technician
  • Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)

During the first year of the apprenticeship, your learning will take place at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre based at Catcliffe, Rotherham, for an initial block of study on a full-time basis. After this, you will attend the Training Centre for one day a week for knowledge study.

Completion of the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre apprenticeships are nationally recognized qualifications which are acknowledged and respected by employers across the world. Things to consider

The first year you will attend the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, full time for an initial block of study. One Friday a month you will return to your workplace. After this block training you will attend the Centre for 1 day a week to undertake knowledge study. The remaining 4 days will be spent in company learning on the job.
