What will the apprentice be doing?

  • The post holder will assist and learn in the CNC programming department in your first year at Gen-Fab
  • The second year will involve liaising with customers, preparing quotes, helping organise material purchasing etc.
  • You will also attend college to maintain your studies at the required level
  • You will be tasked with the programming of customer parts on a 2D CAD system, also besting of various parts of common thicknesses in the most efficient manner possible

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will study on a Level 3 Engineering Technician standard on a Technical Support Technician pathway.  On completion of this, you will gain a qualification in Engineering at Advanced Level 3 standard.

During the first year of the apprenticeship, your learning will take place at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre based at Catcliffe, Rotherham, for an initial block of study on a full-time basis. After this, you will attend the Training Centre for one day a week for knowledge study.

Completion of the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre apprenticeships are nationally recognized qualifications which are acknowledged and respected by employers across the world. These can open the door to many more opportunities, such as Engineering Management and Project Engineering positions across a range of sectors worldwide.
