What will the apprentice be doing?

As an Early Years Apprentice, you will contribute to a high-quality caring environment for children.

This includes:

  • Creating warm, friendly and stimulating atmosphere in which the children can develop emotionally, socially and educationally
  • Under supervision you will provide all aspects of care for children including washing, changing and feeding
  • Acting as key worker to a small group of children and recording observations and planning for them
  • Assisting with meeting the personal and emotional needs of individual children
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Being aware of the nurseries policies and procedures and ensure they are adhered to

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • NCFE/CACHE Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner
  • Functional Skills in maths and English at level 1 minimum (Unless exempt)

Training completed via work-based visits at the nursery and 4-hour study time provided for coursework.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Upon completing your Level 2 Apprenticeship, you may be offered the chance to progress to the Level 3 or a full-time position and further training.

About the employer

Stables Daycare is run in two ground floor buildings, once converted from an old donkey stable and a set of garages. The buildings are called the Nursery Building which is the baby unit and caters for children aged 3 months – 25 months, this building is designed to nurture the children with small groups of children, carpeted areas and a home from home ethos. The Pre-school Building which has a kindergarten attached and caters for children aged 25 months to 5 years is designed as more of a workshop approach, with most activities accessible at all times encouraging children to be more independent learners. They also run a Forest School for the older children too!
