What will the apprentice be doing?

A great opportunity to work in the Operations department of a worldwide Freight Forwarding company. It doesn’t take long to settle in, become a member of the team and be familiar with the operation.

Main Duties:

  • You will be working with our customers, our transport suppliers – hauliers, shipping lines and airlines.
  • You will be involved in working with transport suppliers, overseas partners, and HM Customs.
  • Training will be provided so that you can work other roles to assist team members.
  • You are expected to provide excellent customer service.
  • Organise and manage shipping via air, sea, and road freight for both import and exports.
  • Supervise and manage courier service and customs clearance.
  • Negotiating contracts and transportation costs.
  • Checking and organising documents to conform to customs and insurance requirements.
  • Organising insurance and processing claims.
  • Handling client payments and invoices.
  • Managing inventory.
  • Using technology to arrange live tracking of goods.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Business Administrator Level 3 Standard.
  • On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Standard.
  • Regular work-based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.
