What will the apprentice be doing?

Take ownership of month end postings. 
Organise key areas of the business in receiving supporting evidence for month end accruals.
With the support of the team manager, liaise with the wider business to proactively identify risks and opportunities within the budget and monthly result.
Challenge and investigate variances against budget; reach out to the business to understand progress of cost initiatives or changes in business needs and communicate to management
Being a point of contact for operational controllers to deliver regional results of one of the regions.
Accurate completion of allocated balance sheet reconciliations within the time frame allocated, including documentation of supporting documentation.
Provide ad hoc support to the management accounts team to ensure accurate and robust reporting across the whole of the P+L.
Responsible for making postings into the accounting general ledger after review of transactions including the ability to identify accruals and prepayments.
Maintain the integrity of the General Ledger, whilst ensuring compliance in accordance with UKGAAP and Rexel group policies.
Completion of cost centre queries and ensure adequate information and support is provided to our branch managers.
Ensure that all process documentation is robust and up to date.

Things to consider

Ideally 2+ years in a fast-paced, finance function – either as a business analyst, or assistant accountant Experience of working in either a retail/wholesale environment, or in a business with a branch network, would be desirable Role would suit someone currently at or studying towards AAT Level 2 Min. 5 GCSEs A-C, incl. English & maths
