What will the apprentice be doing?

By the end of your apprenticeship, you will be able to:

-       Install fenestration products to deadline in line with agreed designs

-       Read and interpret drawings and plans

-       To escalate issues as a priority in line with procedure

-       Understand and work to quality systems and operating procedures as instructed

-       Complete and maintain accurate, timely documentation and records as required by the business.

-      Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and practices operated by the Company.

-      Ensure information is communicated effectively to team leaders/supervisors.

-       Be proactive in ensuring you are up to date with all product information and specification details

-       As a representative of Britplas you are expected to present yourself and your team to the highest standards and strive to deliver excellent levels of customer service, internally and externally

-       Maintain good communication with your team and the office staff to enable successful co-ordination of scheduling and sharing of information.

As part of your role you will be expected to carry out any further duties that may be reasonably requested of you, including changes to products, projects and production team

 Training will be given on correct installation methods which is in-line with building regulations, as well as Health and Safety regulations. You will also undertake your fenestration installation apprenticeship standard for the duration of your apprenticeship.

You will be using a variety of different tools, including hand and power tools.

The work can involve working at heights, using ladders and scaffolding, and some heavy lifting so please bare this in mind when applying for the position.

You will be working indoors and outdoors and can involve some work in various weather conditions.

There may be some seasonal variation in the work and most fenestration firms are busiest in the warmer, drier summer months

Training & Compliance

  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures as instructed
  • To ensure that all H&S rules are adhered to at all times, without exception.  Including wearing of any PPE that is provided to you.  Give special attention to H&S requirements in specialist client locations in the mental health sector.
  • Carry out all training provided to deadlines prescribed
  • Execute the responsibilities of a company employee acting in a lawful and ethical manner in accordance with your contract of employment and Employee handbook.
  • Work with your Line Manager to manage your own professional development, including performance appraisal and identifying and meeting training needs to ensure competence and compliance
