What will the apprentice be doing?

  • As a plasterer you will have to learn about all the different products and understand how to manage a job which will be different depending on the materials you are using 
  • You will be responsible for mixing and applying different kinds of plaster to inside walls and ceilings, working with dry lining, and putting protective coverings onto external walls such as pebble dashing to protect and waterproof buildings 
  • Plastering is a core function within the construction sector especially in house building and refurbishments

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Level 2 Plasterer apprenticeship standard
  • On completion of the apprenticeship you will be a fully qualified plasterer
  • Training will take place at Carlisle College
  • One day a week attendance at college

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

With experience, you could move to a supervisory job, or into related areas like tiling, dry lining, estimating and site management.

Things to consider

Roles in plastering are physical in nature and may involve lifting and moving of equipment, working at height and will involve working inside and outside.
