What will the apprentice be doing?
As an Apprentice Dental Nurse, you will be assisting the dentist with all clinical aspects within the surgery and providing patients with a high level of care. You will need to be organised and work well under pressure as well as having a caring nature to be able to support patients.
You will be supported by your work placement and your training provider to ensure you receive ongoing support and training to develop the skills and knowledge required to become a qualified dental nurse and begin your professional career path.
Job role includes:
- Assisting the dentist during treatments
- Patient care
- Setting up and cleaning surgery
- Sterilising instruments
- Updating patient records
- Maintaining equipment
- Preparing instruments for various treatments
- Mixing materials
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- Advanced Level 3 (A Level) Extended Diploma In Dental Nursing
- Your training will be carried out within the dental setting where you will become familiar with the day to day running of a dental surgery
- You will also be required to attend weekly tutorial sessions with your training provider, face to face and virtual, where you will be supported on the theory part of the qualification
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- Once you have completed your apprenticeship you may then wish to continue your career path and complete post graduate qualification such as Radiography, Oral Health Education or Orthodontic Nursing
- We will support you with finding a suitable path for you once you have qualified
