  • Annual wage

    £15,000.00

    The apprenticeship programme runs for 2 years and has a starting salary of £12,000 - £15,000 per year (Plus £4,000 London Weighting Allowance). Once qualified, you will benefit from a competitive salary of £30,536 - £41,000!

  • Working week

    Your working week will be a 5-day week and normally shifts between the hours of 8am to 6pm (i.e. 8am-4pm, 9am-5pm etc). This will be 4 weekdays and a weekend day. Shifts TBC.

What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Out on the road rescuing customers face to face 
  • Offering roadside assistance following  
  • Strict vehicle repair procedures, aiming to get the customer back on the road asap 
  • College Training once a week 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

During your apprenticeship programme you will complete a mix of both college learning and on the job training with one of our experienced apprentice team leaders. This role will provide much more than just how to be a mechanic.

Successful candidates will have full time employment with training and day release at one of our training centres to work towards achieving your L2 Auto Care Technician apprenticeship.

You will have exposure to real life breakdown situations which will require you to offer roadside assistance following diagnostic and repair procedures, communicate with our members and aiming to get our members back on the road.

One of our Training Officers will visit you and mentor / assess your competence regularly. This is part of our close support network NLG provides to ensure that Apprentices are both enjoying and succeeding in their course.

Functional skills math or English if needed.

Following the successful completion of your Apprenticeship, you will be offered full time employment with this company. This role once qualified will bring you days that are varied and you will be working for a company that offers strong career progression.

Things to consider

This position will include driving a company van to and from breakdown sites, you will need to be over 18 years old (No upper age limit) due to insurance purposes and demonstrate a willingness to learn. Some previous work experience would be an advantage; however it is not essential. The specific hours and days that you will be required to work and attend college will be discussed in more detail at the employer interview and by North London Garages once you have been accepted on to the apprenticeship programme. The successful candidate will be willing and able to travel to their place of work for 4 days and attend training at one of our centres for one day a week. This may involve commuting.
