Cross Manufacturing our looking to employ an Engineering Technician Machinist Apprentice. The apprenticeship is a 4-year programme, commencing September 2023. During the apprenticeship you will have the opportunity to earn a salary and achieve recognised qualifications whilst gaining practical hands-on experience.

The company run tow discretionary bonuses in July and in December.
Monday to Thursday, hours of work 7.30am to 4.30pm (30 minute lunch break) Friday, hours of work 7.30am to 12.30pm There may be a requirement to work outside of core hours and weekend working, subject to working time directive.

What will the apprentice be doing?
The apprenticeship includes manufacturing processes, duties include:
- Turning and Hand Work using a range of equipment including CNC and manual machines.
- Production of reports, reading and understanding technical data and drawings.
The apprenticeship has a machinist bias with an expected opportunity at the end of your apprenticeship to join our manufacturing team to produce high quality, precision sealing solutions for the automotive, power generation and aerospace markets.
Applicants must display appropriate engineering abilities and have a genuine and proven interest in engineering/product manufacture, combined with the practical ability and desire to become a first-class engineer.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The Apprentices will spend four years training at Cross, supported by Bath College to achieve an industry standard of Level 3 as detailed below.
The Apprentice will spend the first year at College (term times only) full time, learning hand and machining skills.
Year 1 – NVQ Level 2 in Machining and NVQ Level 2 in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering.
Year 2 and 3 – NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering with 1 day at college per week.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
After the successful completion of your apprentice, there could be the opportunity of becoming a permnanent member of the team and continue your study to HNC/HND level.
