What will the apprentice be doing?
You will be required to work with manufacturing to develop cost effective design solutions. .
Role and responsibilities:
- Work closely with other departments to deliver projects on time in full and to budget
- Supply continuous improvements within the department to speed up delivery times and improve quality levels
- Produce general arrangements drawings for customer approval
- Generate 3D models of designs
- Deliver high quality information to manufacturing
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
After a period of foundation skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:
- Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
After a further period of skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:
- Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Technical Support
- Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge) - for all starts from 1st July 2017
You will study on a Level 3 Engineering Technician standard on a Technical Support Technician pathway. On completion of this, you will gain a qualification in Engineering at Advanced Level 3 standard.
During the first year of the apprenticeship, your learning will take place at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre based at Catcliffe, Rotherham, for an initial block of study on a full-time basis. After this, you will attend the Training Centre for one day a week for knowledge study.

Completion of the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre apprenticeships are nationally recognised qualifications which are acknowledged and respected by employers across the world.
