What will the apprentice be doing?

As part of your apprenticeship, you will be working towards and completing your Hairdressing Professional Standard Level 2 and the units included in this are:

  • Meeting and greeting clients
  • Reception Duties - Including managing payments and booking appointments
  • Shampooing and conditioning hair
  • Cut hair using techniques
  • Style and finish hair
  • Colour and lighten hair using a range of techniques
  • Health and Safety which will include cleaning and sweeping the salon
  • Perming or Hair Extensions are optional units

Please find below some of the duties and expectations of the Apprentice Hairdresser:

  • Everyone within the premises is required to comply with COVID regulations and the successful applicant will have to support with this
  • Take ownership of learning
  • Work with employer to supply models needed for assessment and training

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. Shampers will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day.

You will be working towards the Level 2 hair professional apprenticeship standard, which includes:

  • Level 2 Diploma for Hair Professional (Hairdressing)
  • Functional skills in Maths and English if required
