    £12,979.20

    Pay will be based on our basic skilled rate of £11.88 per hr. Apprentices will get a % of this rate which will increase every year as they progress. Our current rate for 1st year apprentices is £6.24 but this is subject to a upcoming increase.

    The working week will be Monday - Friday and the hours will be discussed at interview.

What will the apprentice be doing?

The apprentice will be trained to be able to:

  • Dismantle, rewind, reassemble and testing of conventional single phase and three phase and small motors, and associated equipment including pumps and gearboxes
  • Carry out incoming inspections of electro-mechanical equipment for damage and evidence of electrical malfunctions to set procedures
  • Document all relevant data specific to unit’s electro-magnetic characteristics, operating conditions, existing damage, or intended serviceability
  • Prepare all reusable parts for rewinding and inspect renewed parts for hidden, or unusual conditions
  • Operate specialised repair and testing equipment, including winding machines, test panels, surge testers, core-loss testers, cut-off saws, burnout ovens, bake ovens, grinders, cranes, forklift trucks, brazing units, dip tanks, and various hand held power and non-power tools
  • Complete required paperwork (including photography) for each job accurately and on a timely basis
  • Ensuring all work meets the appropriate standards and quality control criteria as set out by the company
  • Ensure that risks and hazards in activities undertaken in the role are acknowledged and conducted in accordance with processes, procedure and measures in place to mitigate risks

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 3 Engineering Fitter qualification. 

As an apprentice, you can expect to undertake work-based learning with an employer who will pay you a wage. Throughout the duration of your apprenticeship, you will attend college for one day per week.

The rest of your training will take place in-house at your workplace by your employer and a qualified assessor who will visit you on-site who will complete assessments and progress reviews.

In order to complete the apprenticeship, you will undertake an End Point Assessment. It measures the knowledge, skills and behaviours each apprentice has developed and will include a knowledge test, practical observation and a technical interview. This part of the apprenticeship is employer-led, so it will be your employer who decides if you are ready to undertake your End Point Assessment.
