What will the apprentice be doing?

  • To report to and follow work instruction from mentor & supervisor
  • To maintain, fault find and repair vehicles & equipment under supervision and guidance
  • To carry out scheduled PMI inspections and service under supervision and guidance
  • To be self-motivated
  • The ability to work within a team with a willing to help attitude
  • To have a proactive approach to tidiness
  • Maintain clean & orderly work areas
  • To have a high standard of safety awareness
  • To complete all documentation clearly & accurately

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

During the three-year Advanced Apprenticeship in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance you would complete the full framework on day release.

On completion of the standard the L3 Engineering Technician will be eligible to apply for registration as an Engineering Technician with a relevant professional body. On completion and achievement of the standard, candidates will have the opportunity to progress to Master Technician, management or to develop in their current role.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

You will be given a career path on joining that will take you through the different roles and experiences you should gain through the apprenticeship. 

After completing the Advanced Apprenticeship, you would be given full support to develop into a qualified Mechanic or may have the option to be supported towards a management role via a degree and professional status.
