We are looking out for 3 new tool maker apprentices to join our ever so expanding team based in Forest Town, Mansfield, The apprentice will receive training in different areas to include CNC milling, spark eroding, inspection, CAD, bench/fitting and others. The role will include assisting in the drawing office with design using CAD software and making components.

    £13,733.20

    Once settled in there is scope for overtime which is paid at 1.5 times basic rate. Will be enrolled into the company pension scheme of which the company contribution is 5%. Christmas bonus of Tesco vouchers of £50 / £100.

  • Working week

    Typical shift pattern is 07:30 to 16:00 Monday to Thursday and 07:30 to 13:30 Friday, but there is some flexibility to the end times.

What will the apprentice be doing?

The apprentice will receive on the job training as part of a team throughout the apprenticeship.

This will include:

  • Learning how to set up and operate milling machines and spark eroders
  • Inspecting tools using a Faro arm and other measuring equipment
  • Assisting in the drawing office with design using CAD software
  • Making components
  • Stripping and building tools from 1T to 30T
  • Other functions such as operating a gundrill, polishing

To expose the apprentice to all aspects of the company, followed by mutual agreement on the best area(s) to focus on and achieve further experience and skill, as part of the development and training programme.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 3 Engineering Technician apprenticeship standard, including Functional Skills if required.

Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Technical Knowledge) BTEC Diploma Edexcel Level 3.

This programme is delivered via a day release delivery model which means that one day per week, your attendance is required at our engineering campus, NG17. This attendance is required during term time only.

You will work with expert assessors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession.

You will experience a blended learning model.

You will gather learning evidence, journals and off-the-job records using your e-portfolio.

At the end of the planned learning period, it will be agreed that you are ready to enter 'Gateway' and for your End Point Assessment to be arranged.
