What will the apprentice be doing?
This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic person with an eye for detail and a willingness to learn to start their career in IT. You will have the opportunity to learn about all aspects of IT Support from dealing with and resolving complex problems to fixing hardware issues as well as helping to develop knowledge and processes which benefit the department and company as a whole.
The size of the company is such that you will have an opportunity to meet and engage with the majority of our staff on a regular basis which is a great way to gain a better understanding of the business and the IT challenges it faces along the way. This is a flexible opportunity and you may be requested to work day, evening and weekend shifts.
Your daily responsibilities will consist of:
- Identify and resolve technical problems relating to of MS 365 suite of applications, Access RDB, SelectPay, SelectHR, Codetrack, MS Azure servers, on prem servers, printers, network (LAN) and IT hardware such as laptops, desktops, printers etc. on a day to day basis
- Management of internal projects to help the company develop its use of technology to the benefit of the company making it as “future-proof” as possible
- Assisting with the continuous improvement of IT policies and procedures
- Assisting with continuous improvement of our IT Knowledgebase
- Monitoring and reporting of KPIs including number of IT tickets logged and resolution metrics such as first time fix
- Any other tasks as directed by the Senior IT Technician
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 3 Information Communication Technician qualification:
The qualification has core knowledge elements, before branching out into one of the following pathways:
- IT Support Technician
- Network Technician
- Digital Communications Technician
Your Tutor, Pathway Planner and Employer will decide the best pathway for you to follow. All training is delivered online in virtual classrooms twice per week You will undertake Functional Skills for English and/or maths if needed.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
There is the potential for a full-time IT technician role upon successful completion of the apprenticeship. This position is very much based on the business investing in it's future skills resource.
