What will the apprentice be doing?

The successful candidate will shadow a skilled fabricator and work towards being able to (but not limited to):

  • Use various tools and machinery by following health and safety procedures at all times
  • Measuring and marking of the steel for cutting or drilling
  • Cutting of steel following design specifications
  • Drilling of steel following design specifications

Other duties will include, keeping the workspace clean and tidy and other ad-hoc duties where required.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 2 Engineering Operative apprenticeship standard which includes:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations (skills)
  • Certificate in engineering operations (knowledge)
  • Functional skills in maths or English (if requried)

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to progress into full time employment following the completion of the apprenticeship.
