What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Make full use of the training placement available within Hadley Group Technology.
  • Gain relevant skills and job knowledge through the apprenticeship training scheme.
  • Achieve relevant training qualifications for future job role.
  • Attend regular training progress review meetings with Managers and Trainers.
  • After first year you will attend college one day per week to achieve relevant technical certificates relating to apprentice job role.
  • Record job reports for allocated placement and complete training checklists for future reference in your portfolio.
  • Promote good health and safety within every training placement.
  • Become capable of Installation, Testing, Electrical Fault Finding and ongoing Planned Maintenance / servicing of Plant & Equipment used within the Hadley Group.
  • Working with: PLC’s, Drive units, Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems.
  • Possible working at Height, Fork Lift Truck and Overhead Crane Operation – all subject to additional training.
  • Coordinate with site operations to ensure minimal disruption to manufacturing processes.
  • Carry out any other duties within the capability of the job holder.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

This 4 year programme will include:

  • Engineering Basic Skills training – off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham.
  • Level 3 in Engineering Technician Standard.
  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence).
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence).
  • Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge).
  • In house training in line with your requirements.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Once your apprenticeship is complete, you will become a qualified Controls Maintenance Engineer.

Things to consider

Am Shift - Monday to Friday 06:00 to 14:00 PM Shift – Monday to Friday 06:00 to 14:00 Std Days – Monday to Thursday 08:30 to 17:00 & Friday 08:30 to 16:00 There are other shifts that can occur – Night Shift – Sunday to Thursday 22:00 to 0:600. It is less likely that this will be a requested shift.
