What will the apprentice be doing?

Main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Producing written communication for a range of audiences and digital platforms.
  • Undertaking research and analysis to help inform both short and long term digital communication strategies and campaigns.
  • Using a wide variety of digital technologies and tools for a range of platforms and user interfaces to help achieve marketing objectives.
  • Reviewing, monitoring and analysing online activity to help provide recommendations and insights.
  • Assisting with enquiries received on online and social media platforms; responding efficiently to provide excellent customer service.
  • Analysing problems and resolving issues across a variety of digital platforms.
  • Understanding and creating basic analytical dashboards using digital tools.
  • Assisting with search marketing and search engineering optimisation (SEO).
  • Assisting with email marketing, and web analytics and metrics.
  • Assisting with mobile apps and Pay-Per-Click.
  • Utilising digital analytics to measure and evaluate the success of digital marketing activities.
  • Interpreting and following latest developments in: Digital media technologies and trends, marketing briefs and plans, and company customer standards/ industry good practice for marketing.

Upon successful completion of this apprenticeship programme, apprentices can apply for registration with the Register of IT Technicians, as well as access to join as an Affiliate (Professional) member of the CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) and/ or Associate membership of BCS.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

For the full apprenticeship, learners will complete:

  • Level 3 Digital Marketer Apprenticeship Standard.
  • Principles of Coding.
  • Marketing Principles or Vendor Qualification (Google Squared).
  • Digital Marketing Business Principle or Vendor qualification (Google Squared).
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English.
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in maths.

Apprentices must achieve one vendor (professional) qualification during the apprenticeship. The knowledge modules, vendor/ professional qualification and Functional Skills must be passed before End Point Assessment.

Apprentices are expected to attend college sessions once a fortnight (term- time only) at the Ipswich Road campus, located near Norwich city centre.

Things to consider

The role will include lots of working at a computer. You will be expected to liaise with all members of the team. You will need to gather consent from patients when working with them. The role will also include lots of research and proactivity from the apprentice.
