Cross Manufacturing our looking to employ a Mechatronics Maintenance Apprentice. The apprenticeship is a 4-year programme, commencing September 2023. During the apprenticeship you will have the opportunity to earn a salary and achieve recognised qualifications whilst gaining practical hands-on experience. The role includes fault finding and resolution, mechanical and electrical installations and basic machining and repair.

What will the apprentice be doing?

Applicants must display appropriate engineering abilities and have a genuine interest in mechanical/electrical engineering and machinery with varied practical ability and a desire to become a first-class Engineer Mechatronics Maintenance Technician. The applicant must be willing to continuously improve and upskill as required.

The Apprenticeship includes processes such as:

  • Preventative maintenance operations
  • Welding and fabricating
  • Fault finding and resolution
  • Mechanical and electrical installations
  • Basic machining and repair
  • Inspection and installation of pneumatic systems, buildings and grounds maintenance
  • Machinery installation and safety inspections

No experience is required however candidates must have, or are expected to achieve, a minimum of 4 GCSEs, grades 9 to 4, in relevant subjects, including maths and English.

 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

All apprentices will be required to achieve as a minimum:

  • An employer approved Level 2 Foundation Competence qualification.
  • An employer approved Level 3 Development Competence qualification.
  • An employer approved Level 3 Development Technical Knowledge qualification.

Completion of the Apprenticeship is designed to be recognised by relevant Professional Engineering Institutions at the appropriate level of professional registration (EngTech).

The Apprenticeship will be delivered fours day per week for the first year in college at our Somer Valley Campus in Radstock.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

On succesful completion of the apprenticeship there will be the opportunity to be employed on a permanent basis.

The site is not near the train station so the ability to get to site needs consideration.
