What will the apprentice be doing?

The job involves turning roof space into a living space.

The position includes a learning range of carpentry skills that cover first fix and second fix and things such as:

  • Fitting Staircases
  • Joists
  • Roof rafters
  • Window frames
  • Door frames
  • Skirting boards
  • Stud partition walls

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Carpentry and Joinery Apprenticeship Standard Level 2
  • 1 day per week at Walsall College, Green Lane Campus

The vacancy will mean full employment throughout your apprenticeship and upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there will be an opportunity to work alongside myself as a self employed partner.

Things to consider

The work can be hard and dirty at times, but also rewarding as you stand back and see what you have achieved. The role requires hard work, lifting, carrying and working outside sometimes in bad weather. You need to be reasonably fit and healthy and not be excessively scared of heights.
