A Heavy Vehicle Service Technician will inspect, maintain, and repair large vehicles weighing 3.5 tonnes and over such as HGV's. Servicing, maintenance (replacing / repairing engine parts), and diagnostics (using the latest diagnostic equipment).

What will the apprentice be doing?
In this role, you will be working outdoors in all-weather conditions. The successful candidate must be prepared to travel to and from the site either on a daily or weekly basis.
As an apprentice you will help repair and maintain our fleet of heavy commercial vehicles.
During this apprenticeship you will learn how to:
- Service, inspect and maintain vehicles and trailers to DVSA standards
- Work safely in the workshop environment
- Learn how to use a variety of tools and equipment
- Diagnose and fault find using a variety of equipment
- Maintain and update service records to company standatds.
Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and efficient workshop and adhere to the company and legislative processes.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Candidates will enrol on to the Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Level 3 apprenticeship standard.
The apprenticeship will take up to 36 months to complete and apprentices will attend college on a day release basis for the academic part of their qualification.
This is a level 3 (A level) apprenticeship standard.
The provider is located in Nottingham.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Once the apprentice completes their qualification they will roff off into a permanent position subject to their perfomance.
