What will the apprentice be doing?

This role is for someone who is willing to learn and be able to multi-task. Day to day contact would be the practice secretaries and administration team.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Handling telephone calls
  • Some administration duties such as chasing hospitals and scanning patient related documents on our clinical system etc.
  • Conferring with patients and hospitals regarding referrals
  • Assisting the secretaries with any insurance reports

The apprentice will be given support in all training required. The secretaries as well as the admin team will train the apprentice in anything they need to learn.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship, to include:

  • Level 2 Diploma for Customer Service Practitioner
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities
  • Functional Skills (as required)
  • Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)

The off job training is completed remotely. The Customer Service apprentices have 1 x online class (full day) once a month. 

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

You will gain vast experience which will build confidence and understanding of how a busy business runs as well as understanding patients and how care is managed in general practice.

Things to consider

You will be dealing with patients on a daily basis and therefore maintaining confidentiality is very important. Flexibility is required to cover other staff members.
