What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Basic administration duties including answering the phone and fielding calls
  • Scanning any post and making sure it is attached to case files and sent to the right fee earner
  • Bringing character and personality to a small team
  • Listening and following instruction from management
    Keeping training records up to date
  • Being an active team player and belief in working together to achieve better results
  • Checking stationary stock levels and re-ordering when required
  • Opening files on digital case management system
  • Understanding the minimum requirements that are set by the Legal Aid Agency and implementing them
  • Considering prosecution evidence
  • Providing analysis of prosecution evidence
  • Attending conferences with barristers and clients
  • Arranging experts to undertake assessments
  • Attend court to represent the firm at hearings with clients and barristers
  • Attend social events as a representative of the firm
  • Attend seminars hosted by legal professionals as a representative of the firm

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

As a Paralegal Apprentice with BPP, you will complete the Paralegal Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship. Additional learning within the apprenticeship will enable you to be awarded a Level 4 Certificate of Higher Education in Legal Services which can afford you exemptions from the first two years of the Level 7 Solicitor Apprenticeship.

Your apprenticeship shall be delivered by a blend of online and face-to-face training from and on-the-job learning.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Permanent paralegal position. Possibility of police station accreditation. CILEX considerations.
