What will the apprentice be doing?

Duties will include all aspects of horse care e.g.,

  • Grooming
  • Mucking out
  • Trimming and clipping
  • Plaiting
  • Lunging training
  • Health care
  • Feeding
  • Assisting with running of events
  • Assisting with customer care and experience
  • Exercise of horses (dependent upon experience)
  • Hacking of horses (dependent upon experience)
  • Functional skills if required

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Equine Groom Level 3
  • Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this prior to completion of their apprenticeship

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The opportunity to progress on to the BHS accredited coaching qualifications and to specialise in areas such as equine dentistry or rehabilitation.

Things to consider

There is no accommodation available and there is limited public transport so this will need to be considered before applying. There is potentially space to bring your own horse. It's a mainly outdoors job, working in all weathers with animals - so patient, kind and outdoors lover (even in rain!) is essential!
