What will the apprentice be doing?
- Working with the guidance and instruction from a mentor the site work could involve first fixing work including install timber frames and linings, coverings, flat roof decking, install straight flights of stairs and erect timber stud partitions. Install handrails and spindles to straight flights of stairs.
- Carry out second fixing work including install service encasement, cladding, wall and floor units and fitments, side hung doors, ironmongery and timber mouldings.
- Also fitting doors, lining, frames, skirting and architrave, windows and staircases, studwork, pipe casting, floor joists and trussed rafter roofs, this is depending on required works at each site, also keeping the site clean and tidy and helping to unload materials and store in a tidy manner site store.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Level 2 qualification
1 day in College, 4 days reporting to the company workshop/office - then able to join teams for a lift to site projects.
Functional Skills in maths and English, if required.

As a company known for combining traditional methods and skills with new techniques, it is important we ensure those traditional methods and skills continue to be passed down through the generations of our workforce. Our apprentices are an important part of ensuring Bakers of Danbury exist for another century at least. Over time successful apprentices could work towards a position of Site Supervisor who oversee all trades working on site and liaise with both the Clients and Architects, or even Contract Manager where you will be responsible for pricing tender submissions and overseeing material purchasing and managing the site
