What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Year 1 is full time at Hartlepool College working toward NVQ & Btec level 2 qualifications
  • You will carryout a number of practical jobs involving the cutting and forming of sheet metal
  • You will also carryout various welding technics

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Year 1 is full time at Hartlepool College working toward NVQ & Btec level 2 qualifications
  • Years 2-4 on the job training at Darchem's headquarters in Stillington, whist attending college on a day release basis
  • Once completed the level 3 qualification in Metal Fabrication, you will also have the oportunity to undertake a HNC qualification

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • Once the apprenticeship is complete you will be a fully qualified craftsperson with skills in sheet metal work and welding
  • There may potentially be opotunities to progress to areas such as Manufacturing Engineer, Design Engineer, Project Engineers

Things to consider

Your duties will include all areas of the fabrication and manufacture of the various parts for use in the Aerospace, Nuclear, Thermal Insulation or Automotive industries. All applicants must provide predicted grades.
