What will the apprentice be doing?

Your first year will be spent in our in-house training school learning basic machine and hand fitting skills as well as Inspection techniques and CNC machining.

You will then progress onto the works to complete your Level 3 in the relevant department reporting to the area supervisor.

Tasks include:

  • Basic programming skills
  • Setting up a machine for small batch work
  • Running machines to complete work efficiently
  • Problem solving
  • Part inspection

You will complete your college course units on a day release basis.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Engineering Manufacturing (Machining) - full on job training and day release to college.

Your apprenticeship will include:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
  • Level 2 Diploma in Machining
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
  • Level 3 Diploma in Machining
  • Functional Skills Communication (if applicable)
  • Functional Skills Application of Number (if applicable)
  • EAL L3 Extended diploma in Machining (Development Knowledge)
  • or
  • Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Machining) (Development Technical Knowledge)

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Our apprentices progress onto all areas of the company and will have the opportunity to undertake a HNC upon successful completion of their level 3 qualifications with merit and distinction grades.

Things to consider

5 weeks Holiday entitlement per year Possible progression within the company to Cell Leader and Shop Supervisor as experience increases. Starting on Day Shift, Mon – Thurs 7.15am to 4pm, Fri 7.15am to 12.15pm then once onto Level 3 and over the age of 18 consideration for double day shifts, Mon to Fri. We do not operate a night shift.
