What will the apprentice be doing?

Under the direction/instruction of teaching or senior staff: you will be working with individuals or groups to supervise physical/general care of pupils; supporting access to learning for pupils and provide general support to the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.

The role will involve:

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Successful candidates will be enrolled onto the Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship programme. Over 18 months, they will study health & safety and safeguarding children, understanding how pupils learn and develop, developing strategies to support learning, understanding assessments, supporting behaviour in an educational setting, promoting equality, diversity & inclusion and using technology to support learning.

Apprentices without English and maths at Level 2 must achieve these prior to taking the End Point Assessment.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

About the employer

We are a Complex Needs Provision for 160 pupils with moderate, severe or profound learning difficulties between the ages of 3 to 19. All pupils have different learning needs; they learn best when they are happy and excited about learning. All our pupils have a wide range of special and additional needs; pupils may have moderate to severe learning difficulties or profound and multiple learning needs with significant sensory impairment or medical needs. Our new setting is situated in close proximity to the Old Buckenham Primary and High Schools, with whom we already have very effective working relationships. We use a range of specialist equipment, including a hydrotherapy pool, multi-sensory rooms, specialist hoisting, standing, walking and seating resources and bespoke outdoor play equipment.
