What will the apprentice be doing?

We are looking for a reliable, hardworking, flexible, trustworthy, friendly apprentice with some previous equine experience and horse handling who is willing to work as a team player. The Moats Way team are all ready to pass on their knowledge and experience to help you gain this work-based qualification.

Duties will include but not limited to:

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out and catching in
  • Feeding and watering
  • Exercising horses

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment
  • The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship
  • Full employment contract is in place with holiday, sick pay and also a uniform will be provided.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • An advanced apprenticeship for the right candidate if the position should arise

About the employer

The yard is owned and managed by Claire Dodson BSc, BHS Stage 4 Complete Senior Coach and UKCC Level 3. Claire is a highly experienced trainer and competitor, primarily in Eventing but also in all Riding Club and Pony Club activities. Moats Way Equestrian is a premier livery yard in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire and aims to provide a business-like approach to livery, balanced with an informal and caring atmosphere on the yard.
