What will the apprentice be doing?

The early years provision at Copthorne Primary School in Bradford is looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic Apprentice Nursery Assistant to provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care for their children. This is an excellent opportunity for any individual wishing to begin their career in childcare, within a primary school environment.
Duties will include:
•Providing a high standard of physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care for children in the setting
•Supporting existing staff within the setting
•Implementing daily routines in the room
•Carrying out activities suitable to the age range of children in your area, in conjunction with other staff
•Being flexible within the working practices of the setting, be prepared to help where needed, including undertaking certain domestic jobs within the setting, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleaning equipment, etc.
•Ensuring children are collected by a parent/carer, authorised by the setting

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will be working towards the Intermediate Apprenticeship for the Early Years Practitioner and will achieve the mandated Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner plus maths and English Functional Skills if you have not already achieved them. Apprenticeships are delivered in the workplace and 6 hours of your working time will be dedicated to 'Off the Job Training'. You will be allocated a personal Training and Development Officer and will have access to our online study area where you will find all your assessment materials. Your Training and Development Officer will provide you with personal tutorial support and assessment at pre-arranged times. Assessment is through a variety of methods including observations in the workplace, witness testimonies, product evidence and professional discussions. All evidence will be logged to your electronic portfolio.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Achievement of the intermediate apprenticeship will enable apprentices to go onto study towards the Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship Standard and access higher level jobs within the sector.
