What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Product testing. This will also include bespoke & modified products, conducting evaluations and ensuring the safety & suitability of the proposal
  • Produce product and site reports for review by senior management
  • Investigate & resolve on site problems of a technical nature.
  • Programming & wiring of control systems, this will involve stand alone and wireless systems, ensuring hardware & software are working correctly along with investigating new possibilities for introduction to the business
  • Commission projects that require more technical aspects such as controls and bespoke designs
  • Assisting quality related investigations both in-house and on site
  • Keeping up to date product technical files and sending products for testing where required and liaising with external test laboratories
  • Product improvements – assess possible improvements in both performance and installation of products and log an accurate timeline of actions for past, present and future planed updates
  • Creation of product inspection reports and assessing potential failure points in products to ensure the highest quality of the product range
  • Work on complex projects and manage them to completion. This may involve site visits and meetings with the internal & external teams
  • Provide day-to-day technical support to both the internal and external sales teams
  • Electrical testing & analysis of products, both new and existing to ensure safety
  • Creation of operation & installation instructions, so that our customers use products correctly
  • Support the business in other areas that require technical input

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 3 Engineering Technician apprenticeship standard, including Functional Skills if required.

Tech cert :  This programme includes Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Technical Knowledge) BTEC Diploma Edexcel L3.

This programme is delivered via a day release delivery model which means that one day per week, your attendance is required at our Engineering campus, NG17. This attendance is required during term time only.

You will experience a blended learning model.

You will gather learning evidence, journals and off-the-job records using your e-portfolio.

At the end of the planned learning period, it will be agreed that you are ready to enter 'Gateway' and for your End Point Assessment to be arranged.
