What will the apprentice be doing?
Main duties and responsibilities will include: - Operating and basic maintenance of wide format digital inkjet presses - Achieve high quality print outputs on a wide range of materials - Using RIPS and other in-house pre-press and printing software - Working with different types of materials and learning how they are used for branding - Completing print jobs in line with job sheets and production schedules - Follow print quality checks - Reporting to Floor Supervisor
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, the qualification obtained will be a L3 Print Technician apprenticeship standard. The apprentice will be given sufficient time to undertake their "off-the-job" requirement of the apprenticeship during their working hours. Throughout your time as an apprentice, you will be supported by both Imaginators and the BPIF. You will be assigned a dedicated Training Coordinator to oversee your training and will have scheduled visits every 4-6 weeks. Most training and studying will be a combination of site-based and remote delivery. Your Training Coordinator will be available to check your progress and offer support on any issues and concerns. In between visits, you will work on tasks, research and assignments in fulfilment of the apprenticeship requirements. Upon completion of your apprenticeship training period, you will complete End Point Assessment to confirm competence and be awarded the Print Technician Apprenticeship qualification.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
A full-time position as press operator may be available to the right candidate on successful completion of the apprenticeship programme and subject to business need.
