The salary will be £5.28 hourly rate 32.5 hours per week term time only. (39 weeks per year) The salary will increase after 1 year on programme to National Minimum Wage dependent on age at the time. (salary is paid pro rata)

What will the apprentice be doing?
To provide education, care and encouragement to children and young people with disabilities or special education needs, supporting them to participate in activities and liasing, if required, with parents/carers/other professionals as appropriate.
This will include working with children and young people who have a range of needs including :
- Communication & interaction needs
- Cognition & learning needs
- Behaviour, emotional and social development needs
- Sensory and/or physical needs
- Severe and challenging behaviour
- Medical needs
- Personal care needs
Additional Responsibilities:
It is the nature of the work in a special school that tasks and responsibilities are in many circumstances, unpredictable and varied. All staff are therefore expected to work in a flexible, co-operative way particularly when the occasion arises that tasks which are not pecifically covered in their job description have to be undertaken. Those additional duties will normally be to cover unforseen circumstances or change in work.
This post is eligable for a DBS check under the Rehabillitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (i.e. it involves certin activities in relation to children and/or adults) and is defined as regulated activity under Part 1 of the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The successful applicant will be working towards a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification.
Training will be provided by SMB Group using a remote, blended delivery, led by a Tutor.
