What will the apprentice be doing?
Your role as the IT Technician Apprentice will include a vast range of activities from supporting team members, suppliers, clients and customers with software solutions and business systems in a timely and efficient manner to achieve service-level agreements. You will provide helpdesk support, commission devices and install solutions while working as a valued member of a proactive, efficient and effective technical team providing a wealth of knowledge and experience across the IT sector.
The role involves IT helpdesk support via telephone and on-site support. You will need to be able to demonstrate a calm, friendly and reassuring presence to our IT users. You will also:
- To openly communicate and be responsive to the needs of our valued customers by providing first-class customer service.
- Learn and follow our business systems to ensure issues are logged, tracked and resolved in a timely and efficient manner.
- Provide 1st line support in person, via telephone and remote support tools.
- Updating users with service ticket up-dates and resolution progress.
- Conduct workshop activities to commission devices and conduct general administration processes (e.g., ordering PCs, spares etc) to keep IT services running efficiently.
- Demonstrate a “can do” attitude, by looking for solutions and clear communication.
- The ability to conduct work on the customer's site to demonstrate competence and the skills necessary to become a reliable and capable team member.
- Be committed to undertaking the apprenticeship course for the full term and actively participate in the training provided by both Agile Technical Solutions and the training provider.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- The Apprentice will be working towards the Level 3 Information Communications Technician Apprenticeship Standard for a duration of 18-months.
- College attendance will be at the Colchester Institute - Colchester Campus one day per week during term time.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- Agile has experience of recruiting, training and retaining apprentices. The role offers long-term security and the opportunity to progress into a permanent position.
