What will the apprentice be doing?

  • The successful candidate will become involved in all aspects of the nursery ensuring that they have the ability to be flexible and work within all age ranges of the setting
  • The candidate would be expected to be involved in supporting staff with planning and developmental records to ensure they are kept updated in line with our policies and procedures
  • To implement and promote all policies and the Staff Rules
  • To have an understanding of children's development, their needs and the provision of positive play
  • To care for and supervise the group of children assigned to them
  • To ensure their safety at all times
  • To create an interesting and stimulating environment for the child to develop all their skills
  • To provide support for any children with special needs and to liaise with senior members of staff to promote their welfare and development
  • To ensure positive management of children’s behaviour
  • To carry out housekeeping duties as appropriate
  • To ensure the ethos, implementation and legal requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage
  • To support a commitment to the theory and practice of equal opportunities

You will be expected to complete other duties as your training progresses.

Parkway Day Nursery Limited has been operational since 2013 and is jointly owned by Rachel Jones and Karen Coulson. Parkway Day Nursery first opened in September 2003 in Coulby Newham for children aged six weeks to eleven years as part of the Sure Start Neighbourhood Nursery Initiative. Rachel Jones was instrumental in the planning and set up of the Setting and has been managing the Nursery since that date. The nursery is open 51 weeks of the year between the hours of 7.30am and 6pm and children can attend on a full time or sessional basis. In 2017 Parkway Day Nursery @ Acklam Whin was opened offering 15/30 hour funded childcare places including full day care term time only and breakfast and afterschool club facilities for children attending Acklam Whin Primary and local schools. In 2018 Parkway Day Nursery at Avenue was opened a offering 15/30 hour funded childcare and full day care term time only and breakfast and afterschool provision. Over the years our holiday club has grown and in 2019 saw the service move to Parkway @ The Avenue where we offer holiday club from 8am – 6pm every holiday Monday to Friday with excellent indoor and outdoor facilities the children are never board during the holiday with come excellent trips and excursions planned there sure to have great education, interactive and most importantly a fun time. Children are cared for in light, bright and well-equipped rooms by dedicated and fully qualified staff. They also benefit from a safe and secure outdoor play areas which include an all – purpose impact absorbent safety surface and a grassed area. The children benefit from free flow outdoor play on a daily basis encouraging a healthy lifestyle. Parents will be informed on a daily basis of activities that their children are involved in and are encouraged to be involved in their child’s learning.
